Ill try to keep this short sweet and to the point.

There so is set way to do DoA as theres many different ways it can be done. You can ez work in any profession. Here I will do my best to explain how to set up team builds with or without hero's.

Build essentials:
A heavy damage front line-Your team will need to kill fast.

Hex/Condition removal-There are lots of hexes and conditions. You will need a good source or removing them.

Healing-Well obviously, but sometimes balancing out how much healing your party need can be a tough. Especially when hero's are involved.

Party wide damage reduction-Best done by a P/W with "SaveYourselves".

A minion master-This is not exactly essential as a run can be done with out one but in my experience having a MM can make the run go alot smoother and alot faster.

A good strong mid line-Good unblockable damage and/or support.

Some of these skills are optional some are not and can be tweaked to your own personal preference.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Front line
(Must be played by a people)
Should consist of 1-2 physical damage dealers.
Needs to be able to kill foes fast. This is best accomplished by using a scythe due to the area damage it does and the very high maximum damage of a scythe.

Proven builds:

Warrior:
Quote:
Scythe War
Equipment
Armor:
Minor mastery rune
Full Survivor Insignias
Major/Superior Vigor
Vitae on all the rest.
Health should be over 600.

Weapons:
Weapons should be customized for the +20% more damage.
+15% more damage (while health is over 50%)
20/20 sundering
+30 health fortitude

A Longbow or Flatbow for pulling.

Assassin:
Quote:
Critical Scythe Sin
Equipment
Armor:
Minor mastery rune
Full Survivor Insignias
Major/Superior Vigor
Vitae on all the rest.
Health should be over 600.

Weapons:
Weapons should be customized for the +20% more damage.
+15% more damage (while health is over 50%)
20/20 sundering
+30 health fortitude

A Longbow or Flatbow for pulling.

Dervish:

Quote:
Wounding Strike
Equipment
Armor:
Minor mastery rune
Full Survivor Insignias
Major/Superior Vigor
Vitae on all the rest.
Health should be over 600.

Weapons:
Weapons should be customized for the +20% more damage.
+15% more damage (while health is over 50%)
20/20 sundering
+30 health fortitude

A Longbow or Flatbow for pulling.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Paragon
(Must be played by a person)
Probably the most important role in the team.
The para must be clean of hexes and blind to work correctly.

Quote:

Imbagon
Notes:There are alot of optional skills. Just throw in some attack skills of your choice.
Equipment
Armor:
Superior Leadership rune
Minor Command and Spear Mastery runes
Major/Superior Vigor
Vitae on all the rest
Full Survivor Insignias

Weapons:
Weapons should be customized for the +20% more damage.
+15% more damage (while health is over 50%)
10/10 (Furious)
+30 health (fortitude)
A shield with +30 health (fortitude)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Mid Line
Consist of 3-5, ether heros or players.
The mid line is the most versatile area of the team build, this is were you can work in other caster professions like Elementalist, Mesmer, Necromancer, Ranger, Ritualist and even Monk.

Hero's running Mid Line
Necro hero's work best for a hero mid line, I do not recommend other professions for hero's cause they cant manage there energy well.
Soul Reaping allows hero's to spam skills with out energy management problems as long as enemy's or minions are dieing often.

MM hero:
I highly recommended this hero for every team.
It is ok for a mm hero to use a Superior -75 health rune.
The minions will body block and help the front line keep agro.
When the minions die all nearby foes will take damage from Death Nova and the party will be healed from Dwayna's Sorrow.

Proven builds:
Quote:
Minion Bomber
Equipment
Armor:
Superior Death mastery rune
Full Survivor Insignias
Major/Superior Vigor
Vitae on all the rest.

Weapons:
Any +60 health staff

If you want to run Dual MM hero's
Quote:
Discord MM hero
Jagged MM hero
Pros: Lots of minions running around taking most of the agro and relieving alot of pressure from the team.
Cons: Minions have minds of there own and can agro mobs you don't want agroed, so be sure you pull the mobs into the minions.
Equipment
Armor:
Superior Death mastery rune
Full Survivor Insignias
Major/Superior Vigor
Vitae on all the rest.

Weapons:
Any +60 health staff

Spiteful Spirit hero:
This hero will help your team out alot defensively and offensively by dealing damage Weakening foes and sucking all the Conditions off the team with Foul Feast.

Quote:
Curse Hero
Equipment
Armor:
Minor mastery runes
Full Survivor Insignias
Major/Superior Vigor
Vitae on all the rest.

Weapons:
Any +60 health staff

People running Mid Line
There is a wide range of builds that can be ran in the mid line.

Necromancer:
Necros can mod the SS build to there likening or run a EC build like this.
I have not tested a Orders necro in my team builds but it had been tested in outher doa builds with success.

Proven builds:
Quote:
EC Necro
Note: This build will keep all nearby foes dazed, weakened and crippled.
Equipment
Armor:
Minor mastery rune
Full Survivor Insignias
Major/Superior Vigor
Vitae on all the rest.

Weapons:
+5 energy Spear with Lengthens Dazed duration 33% (Silencing) with +30 (Fortitude) and a focus with +30 (Fortitude)

Elementalist:
Fire Magic generally works well however Water, Earth and Air Magic have not been tested by us yet. I'm sure there are more Ele builds that will work but currently this one is the only one that is proven.

Proven builds:

Quote:
Equipment
Armor:
Minor mastery rune
Full Survivor Insignias
Major/Superior Vigor
Vitae on all the rest.

Weapons:
+5 energy Spear with Lengthens Dazed duration 33% (Silencing) with +30 (Fortitude) and a focus with +30 (Fortitude)

Quote:
Mind Blast Ele
Note: Depending on your teams needs you can fill in the empty skill slot with anuther fire magic skill, Technobabble, Great Dwarf Weapon, Ebon Battle Standard of Honor or even Splinter Weapon.

set 2. Shield with +30 (Fortitude)--1 handed weapon with +30 (Fortitude)
set 3. 20/20 wand--15-1 focus (High energy set)

Ritualist:

Rits work well in the Mid Line. Due to there healing and support damage capability's.

Proven builds:
Quote:
Splinter Barrage Rit
Equipment
Armor:
Minor mastery rune
Full Survivor Insignias
Major/Superior Vigor
Vitae on all the rest.

Weapons:
A customized Bow type of your choice
+15% more damage (while health is over 50%)

Mesmer:
Mesmers are not as versatile as other professions but there are some good builds for them.

Proven builds:
Quote:
VoR Mes
Note: With out a doubt more damage then a SS but has less utility then a SS with Foul Feast.
Equipment
Armor:
Minor mastery rune
Full Survivor Insignias
Major/Superior Vigor
Vitae on all the rest.

Weapons:
set 1. 20/20 wand--20/20 offhand
set 2. Shield with +30 (Fortitude)--1 handed weapon with +30 (Fortitude)

Quote:
EC Mes
Equipment
Armor:
Minor mastery rune
Full Survivor Insignias
Major/Superior Vigor
Vitae on all the rest.

Weapons:
+5 energy Spear with Lengthens Dazed duration 33% (Silencing) with +30 (Fortitude) and a focus with +30 (Fortitude)

Ranger:
The only proven ranger build is Splinter Barrage.

Proven builds:
Quote:
Splinter Barrage
Equipment
Armor:
Minor mastery rune
Full Survivor Insignias
Major/Superior Vigor
Vitae on all the rest.

Weapons:
A customized Bow type of your choice
+15% more damage (while health is over 50%)
20/20 sundering or Zealous
+30 health fortitude

Monk:
Sure a monk can run mid line to but monks are best in the Back Line.
This build is for just in case you have 3 monks.

Proven builds:
Quote:
Mo Splinter Smite Support
Equipment
Armor:
Minor mastery rune
Full Survivor Insignias
Major/Superior Vigor
Vitae on all the rest.

Weapons:
set 1. 20/20 wand--20/20 offhand
set 2. Shield with +30 (Fortitude)--1 handed weapon with +30 (Fortitude)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Back Line
The Back Line should consist of 2-3 Prot/healers/support.

Hex Removal:
You will need a good strong fast recharging multi Hex Removal that will prioritize the Paragon. That is best done with a Divert Hexes monk or necro played by a human.

Quote:
Divert Hex Monk
Or
Divert Hex Necro
Note:Having this build played my a human is critical.
Equipment
Armor:
Minor mastery runes
Full Survivor Insignias
Major/Superior Vigor
Vitae on all the rest

Weapons:
Totem Axe or caster weapon equal.
20/20 offhand
Or 20/20 Staff with enchantments last 20% longer

Healing with hero's:
Once again necro hero's work best for running hero's in the healing Back Line.
Like i said earlier some times it can be hard to balance out how much healing you will need, but the best part about hero's healing is there multi-tasking capability's that is some what difficult for a human to do. So there for you can use 2 N/Rt's that can deal damage while healing.

Proven Builds:
Quote:
Icy Healer Hero
Note: The hero will use Icy Veins as a hex and spread it around.
Splinter Healer Hero
Equipment
Armor:
Minor mastery runes
Full Survivor Insignias
Major/Superior Vigor
Vitae on all the rest

Weapons:
Any +60 health staff.

Healing with people:
If you have an extra monk you can run this.

Proven builds:
Quote:
Woh Hybrid
Note: This build should not be used by a hero.
Equipment
Armor:
Minor mastery runes
Full Survivor Insignias
Major/Superior Vigor
Vitae on all the rest

Weapons:
Totem Axe or caster weapon equal.
20/20 offhand
Or 20/20 Staff with enchantments last 20% longer

Quote:
Equipment
Armor:
Minor mastery runes
Full Survivor Insignias
Major/Superior Vigor
Vitae on all the rest

Totem Axe or caster weapon equal.
20/20 offhand
Or 20/20 Staff with enchantments last 20% longer

Setting up a working team build

Ok the 3 mandatory players you will need is:
1 Front liner (To take out crucial targets)
1 Paragon (To dramatically reduce all damage taken)
1 Divert Hex monk (To prioritize the paragon with hex removal)

After you have those 3 you can work in other professions.

Notes: Make sure you only have one copy of Foul Feast and keep in mind that weapon spells don't stack.
It is strongly recommend that the front liners have at lest rank 7 Lightbringer especially if running a single front line.
Dual front line builds are generally faster.
I do not recommend running a EC Necro or EC Mesmer with a Visions of Regret Mesmer.

Proven team set ups:
Quote:
Dual front line-Dual monks-EC condition spreader-Aoe Splinter Barrage-Hero Minion bomber-Para
Scythe War
Critical Scythe Sin
Imbagon
Minion Bomber
EC Necro
Splinter Barrage Rit
Woh Hybrid
Divert Hex Monk

Quote:
Single front line-Dual healer necros-Mind Blast Aoe- Hero minion bomber-SS hero-Divert Hex necro
